love wins

Recently, there have been appalling scenes in our city and around the country.

Today, I am reaching out to you as a fellow human being, deeply moved by the events unfolding around us. It is during these challenging times that we must remember the power of our shared humanity—a connection that transcends further than borders, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.

In cities like Liverpool and beyond, we are witnessing an array of unjust racism sourced from anger and hate. These moments are heavy and overwhelming, and we must show our love, compassion, and support for the members of our community who are being affected by this cruelty. It is crucial that we remember that love always wins over hate. When we encounter the darkness of intolerance, our response must be to shine our light brighter than ever before and do everything in our power to correctly educate ourselves and those around us.

It is during times like this that we should unite as one and reflect on how far we have come from such hate and prejudice instead of taking steps back. Unfortunately, we live in a world so driven by hatred. If anything, the recent events that have unfolded have been a clear portrayal of how racism and prejudice are not something we are born with; it is something that is taught, whether that is through the media, propaganda, misinformation, or lack of the correct education.

I have always loved this city and credited it for its diversity and multi-cultural acceptance, and unfortunately, a minority have let the city down with their actions, thoughts, and words. These people are NOT what this city represents, nor are they a representation of human decency. I sincerely hope that one day they look back on their actions and feel shame, educate themselves on where they went wrong, and then proceed to seek forgiveness for the inhumanity of their actions.
