New York
New York is quite literally the ‘place of movie scenes’. And when I was there I was absolutely in awe! Should you get the opportunity to visit, you will not be left disappointed, so in this branch blog, I will tell you all the great hotspots and my favourite foodie place in the Big Apple!
Times Square
Now, we stayed in the Riu Plaza, Manhattan, so as you can imagine, Times Square was right on our doorstep. Although it was busy it was magical. In my opinion, the best time to go is at night when it is all lit up. Everything from the billboards to the theatres will leave you more in love with the City and its vibrant energy.
The Statue of Liberty
If culture is your thing then visiting the Statue of Liberty is an absolute must! It is located on Liberty Island which is a short distance from Ellis Island. You will not be disappointed with the view and if you want to be further educated you can visit the Nation Museum of Immigration situated on Ellis Island.
Empire State Building
I did this solo as my family were not willing to go that high up, but oh my goddess it was worth it. It was amazing. They have a museum on the 2nd and 80th floor so you can further immerse yourself in the history surrounding the building. The Empire State Building is located on 34th Street.
Central Park
Central Park was phenomenal. My family & I went on a tour (which I would highly recommend). The tour took us all around and told us about all the monuments and all of the famous movies that had scenes filmed there.
Italian Trattoria
This was by far our favourite food hotspot. I am a gal who adores Italian food, so when we found this restaurant we just had to go! I had a pepperoni pizza the first night and I can hand on heart say it was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. The second night I had spaghetti bolognese and it was absolutely delicious.
Tiffany’s
Since I was a little girl my mumma and I loved Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I remember purchasing the CD in the local supermarket, and we got a cup full of sweats from the ‘pick and mix’ station. We then proceeded to go on and watch it together and from the first time watching it my mum told me “One day, when you are older, I will take you to Tiffany’s and buy you some jewellery”. Seeing it for the first time in the big city was oh surreal! My mumma bought me a cherry red heart necklace engraved with “Tiffany’s” on the corresponding heart.
New York is certainly the place to be and I cannot wait to go back. Whether you are travelling solo or with your pals it is certainly the place to be. As Alicia Keys would say “Even if it ain’t all it seems I have got a pocket full of dreams”
